When Will We Re-open?

Daily your President and your Manager receive questions about “when we will re-open”? Although we want this as much as you do, we must keep in mind that this is a pandemic impacting the world. Currently getting tested is difficult, and there is no vaccine available at time. Our Health Professionals, Scientists and Researchers are working overtime to come up with answers. We must be patient and work together to provide our residents with the attitude that your safety is our most important job at this time. We are asking that you please understand this is not our decision, this is by order of the Governor of the State of Oregon. We are preparing for your return however, following the guidelines as they are drafted and released from the Governor’s office. Some changes you will notice when the doors open are:

The Office- we will be maintaining the 6’ social distancing and requesting you wear a mask. For the distance reason only two people at one time will be allowed in the office. You will also notice the temporary shield on the counter to further protect the employees as well as you the members, just like the post office employees have when you come in.

The Restaurant- tables will be 6’ apart, which will reduce seating capacity by 50%. All condiments will be in single-serve packets. There will be a “designated greeter” to manage the line, distancing, entering, and exiting, w/o blocking fire exits. This same employee will be giving you a laminated menu as they seat you, and after you have selected your meal, they will be returning the menu to the kitchen to disinfect. Hand sanitizer will be staged for customer use.All employees will wear cloth face coverings, and it is yet undecided whether customers will be requested or required to wear face coverings except when eating. There will be one employee assigned to take your order and that same employee will bring your order, as well as take your payment at the table. Reservations will be strongly encouraged in advance to confirm seating with the limited capacity.

The Pro Shop- Capacity will be limited to comply with the 6’ distance required, face masks will be required for employees and members. Same temporary shield as the office will be at the counter for mutual safety.

These are the only drafted plans we have received and are awaiting instructions for the pool and Health center; however, the distancing will be a requirement. COVID-19 has been determined to not be transmittable in a chlorinated pool however, the concern is everything the member comes into contact with physically; handrails, faucets, showers as example, so these details are still being worked out.

As we approach a “new normal” we ask for your patience and understanding in erring on the side of caution when we implement these things, they are for all our protection. It should go without saying that we as residents are the prime target for this virus, so let us take the precautions in that vein and for concern of others as well as ourselves.
